One Photographer’s Journey Begins

The journey began when I was 13 years old.  That is the year that I received a Kodak film camera, a Brownie which used C620 film.  I began taking photos of family around the holidays or birthdays, and then trips to scenic locations.  My first landscape photo was taken at the Craters of the Moon in southern Idaho.  Looking back I see the images were fair for a beginner.  My mom bought me a subscription for Modern Photography.  I read and savored every issue and realized I wanted a better camera.  It wouldn’t be until I was 16 that I had the opportunity to use a 35mm film camera at my high school’s photo club.  It was then that my passion for photography grew larger and stronger.  There I learned how to develop film, make contact sheets, test prints, and create prints in a darkroom. This was the beginning of this photographer’s journey.

About Douglas Wilks Photography

I am an advanced photographer who lives in western Montana. I create a variety of strong images using a DSLR, computer, and digital software. I am available for hire for full time, part time, or projects. Most of my images are of landscapes, still life, and events. I am always looking to improve my skills, network of friends and professionals, and portfolio. I look forward to creating new friends, contacts, and others who are interested in photography.
